WHAT IS BODY MAPPING?

The process of Body Mapping uses images, models, videos and movement explorations to enable the individual to understand the structure, size and function of the body and its various parts, and to develop a better awareness of how the body works. Through knowledge gained from Body Mapping, long held muscular tension is released, stress is reduced, the body feels more open and the artist’s voice is freed. Body Mapping is NOT technique, it makes learning technique easier.

YOUR BODY MAP GOVERNS YOUR MOVEMENT

Like a road map, you follow it as you go about your life.

If your body map is accurate and refined, your
movement (and therefore your playing/singing)
will be fluid and free, balanced and expressive.

If your body map is slightly inaccurate or inadequate,
your movement (and therefore your playing/singing)
will be slightly awkward, your technique somewhat limited.

If your body map is very inaccurate or missing significant parts, your movement can be painful and even injury-producing.
